Indian & International System of Numeration

In today's blog, we will learn how to write Indian and International numbers and what is the difference between them.

In the Indian or Hindu-Arabic number system, we initially have a group of three, which will be called Ones. One, tens and hundreds come under it. After this comes a group of thousand, which consists of thousand and ten thousand. After this comes a group of lakhs which includes lakhs and ten lakhs. Next comes the group of crores, which consists of crores and ten crores.

Now let us explain this by an example 658619805. In this we will put commas like this - 65,86,19,805. Now we will read it like this - Sixty five crore eighty six lakh nineteen thousand eight hundred five.

Let us now understand this through the chart -

Now let's see how to write international numbers. These numbers are always written in groups of three. To begin with, there will be a group of ones, similar to the Indian system, in which there will be one, tens and hundred. After that there will be a group of thousand which includes thousand, ten thousand and hundred thousand. Now a group of million will come in which there will be one million, ten million and hundred million.

Now let's look at an example - 897456123 in this we will put commas like this - 897,456,123. Now, let's see how to read it. Eight hundred ninety seven million four hundred fifty six thousand one hundred twenty - three.

Let us now understand this through the chart -
